Greetings to all knowledge seekers out there! My name is Haishuo Lee, the superintendent in Wagor International School in Taichung, Taiwan. I am also proud to be part of Minerva University's Master in Decision Analysis (MDA) Class of 2024. As an educator, I find particular value in the quality of education provided by Minerva, and I would like to share with you why I believe this is the university for anyone looking to challenge themselves and expand their horizons.
First and foremost, the curriculum design of Minerva University's MDA program is unique in its intentionality. In the era of artificial intelligence (AI), information overload is a growing problem, so the more we know about this knowledge framework, the better we can approach questions about the world with its help. It is not about replacing humans with AI, but rather about humans learning how to use AI effectively. Minerva's MDA program provides a challenging curriculum that exercises the mind radically, offers a framework to approach problems, and teaches logical training and formal methods to enhance our reasoning and pursue the truth. In Year 2, the curriculum design brings everything together through applied research courses, culminating in a Master’s thesis.
But that is not all. At Minerva, you can expect a robust and eye-opening digital learning experience. Unlike pre-recorded courses that many associate with digital learning, Minerva's digital program is interactive, engaging, and more effective than traditional face-to-face courses. The well-designed pre-class work and study guides help students navigate the learning direction before the course even begins. The seminars are interactive, allowing instructors and learners to express themselves with sound, words, and interesting emoticons, which make it the best learning experience for me with much better learning retention results. With polls, group activities, and reflection questions, there is always something to keep us engaged and interested. Even the collaborative coding experience is fun, and do not worry if you do not have any prior experience—the super supportive in-class atmosphere and teaching assistants make it easy to improve.
To me, what truly sets Minerva University apart is the people. At school, the faculty and classmates you meet play a significant role in your education. Minerva's professors are world-class educators with credentials from the most prestigious universities and organizations in the world, who have supported Nobel Prize winners' research methods, built satellites for NASA, and shared their regrets about not having taken another super hard double major in university. They listen, help, and care about their students. The classmates I have met are avid learners, curious people, and team players who respect and support each other. Medical students, philanthropists, data specialists from global companies, and others have impressed me with their intelligence and kindness. Meeting these people four days a week and engaging in deep intellectual conversation has allowed me to forge deep friendships.
The well-designed curriculum, the highly interactive digital learning interface, and the caring people with teeming curiosity and inquisitive minds make Minerva University the place to be.
