Class of 2024 Beyond Graduation

Learn more about Class of 2024's post-graduate ventures.

June 19, 2024

After their graduation this May, our undergraduate Class of 2024 is embarking on an exciting new chapter - the beginning of their post-graduate careers! To mark this significant milestone, we have reached out to some of our newest alumni to share what is next for them.

This group comes from diverse backgrounds and has pursued various majors across Minerva's undergraduate colleges. Their stories highlight the wide range of paths and opportunities our students embrace, from joining innovative companies like Microsoft to continuing their education at prestigious institutions like the University of Edinburgh.

A common thread among our graduates is their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and the world. As we reflect on their time at Minerva, we eagerly anticipate the remarkable futures they are creating. Here's to the Class of 2024!

Meet Rhali, a Computational Sciences major who will be pursuing a Ph.D. in Planetary Science at the University of Colorado Boulder.

“I have always loved space and planets, and joining Minerva, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to explore that interest fully. However, the diversity classes meant I got to explore this topic in unconventional ways and expand my thinking about space and planets. My internship at the Planetary Institute of Science for NASA was definitely a turning point because it showed me I could also succeed at mathematical and computational research. My capstone developed my skills in statistical analyses to make evidence-based hypotheses about the climate on Titan.”

Meet Zoe, a double major in Social Sciences and Art and Humanities, who will be pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Edinburgh in the fall.

“My passion for public health was sparked by an SS146 Practice of Governance assignment analyzing maternal health data in the US. I was shocked and fascinated by the data, so I decided to do most of my subsequent assignments on this topic to learn more. I am very grateful that Minerva professors have always given students large leeway in deciding the topics and forms of our assignments because it allowed me to become a mini-expert on this subject without ever taking a formal public health class. I used my capstone as another opportunity to further my public health knowledge and study it more purposefully. I designed a program that has the purpose of mitigating the negative maternal health consequences associated with hurricanes in the southeastern United States.”

Meet Rebeca, a Computational Science and Natural Sciences double major, who is joining Prism, a post-bachelor program at Novartis.

"I joined Minerva because I love discovering new things and constantly pursue a sense of wonder and discovery. Throughout my studies, I found the same excitement in my research on computational drug discovery as I did in traveling and meeting new people. In my capstone, I used computational-based models to develop multi-targeted HIV drugs, marking the initial steps in my journey toward becoming a biomedical researcher. I am excited about this post-baccalaureate program at Novartis as it will pave the way for future graduate school and research opportunities."

Meet Aroma, a Computational Sciences major and a future Software Engineer at Microsoft.

“Learning to code during my first year at Minerva has been a source of immense pride for me, considering how far I've progressed. Completing my capstone project was particularly exciting as I delved into a machine-learning endeavor focused on detecting dermatological skin conditions, specifically darker skin tones. Addressing and mitigating the inherent biases in models trained solely on images of fair skin was a crucial aspect of my work. This project not only allowed me to pursue my passion for model development but also integrated with my love for skincare.”

We are thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2024! Each student's journey has been unique, yet all are united by a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to driving change. Their stories inspire us, and we can't wait to share more alumni achievements in the coming months.
