MINERVA VOICES

Soko's Letter from Taipei

See Taipei through Soko Mungunsukh's perspective

December 21, 2023

Greetings from Taipei,

The warm glow of the Taiwanese sun filters through my window, casting a soothing ambiance over my desk - the perfect time to reflect on our past months! It's hard to believe that we've already spent over half a semester in this vibrant city, and I'm excited to share more about our incredible journey.

Taipei, with its enchanting blend of modernity and tradition, has become our second home. The natural hot springs, scattered like hidden gems throughout the city, have provided us with moments of relaxation, escaping from our busy lives as Minerva students. When the sun sets, we rush to the bustling Night Markets to try new cuisines and desserts, from steaming bowls of beef noodle soup to the sweet and savory stinky tofu; every bite is a unique experience.

Yet, as we immerse ourselves in the beauty of Taiwan, our graduation is approaching, and with it, the uncertainty of post-grad life. It's a universal feeling, I suppose, that mix of excitement and nervousness as we ponder the paths that lie ahead. Our career coaches at Minerva recently visited Taipei from the US to guide us through a Job Search boot camp that gave us the confidence to navigate the job-hunting journey that awaits us.

Aside from our career exploration, many of us are dedicated to making progress on our Capstone Projects. All of us are building our own project aligned with our interests and a global problem that matters to us. From building a software tool that translates sign language to verbal language to crafting startup business proposals, the spirit of innovation and creativity within our community continues to amaze me.

As we count down the days to graduation, our time in Taipei has been busy but immensely fruitful. We have embraced new cultures, explored the natural wonders of Taiwan, and prepared ourselves for the exciting road ahead. We're thriving, growing, and sipping Taiwanese Oolong tea as we contemplate our bright future. We can't wait to meet one another in different corners of the world, much like how our paths crossed here at Minerva University.

Cheers to new adventures on the horizon!

Kind regards,

Soko,
