MINERVA VOICES

Andi's Letter from Buenos Aires

See Buenos Aires through Andi Bucescu's perspective

December 13, 2023

Hola!

The semester is passing by fast, and the trees in Buenos Aires are blooming as summer approaches the southern hemisphere. As I am preparing for the final stretch of my fifth semester at Minerva, I have been reflecting on all the amazing experiences that Argentina has offered me so far.

My classmates and I have learned to appreciate the small details in our everyday lives here, ranging from the spectacular coffee and medialunas found in every corner of the city to the energetic fútbol matches in local parks. Waking up to the amazing view of the city has been the highlight of my mornings, and I like to take a second on our balcony to prepare for busy days: Minerva students, naturally, are keen to explore. We like to fill in every bit of free time between classes and assignments with civic projects, city experiences, tango classes, learning Spanish, and trips across the country.

I have found my civic project to be extremely rewarding this semester, as I am collaborating with two other classmates on an artificial intelligence (AI) research project with the international marketing agency Grupo Muchnik. We are currently working on a guide to implementing AI in marketing, and are looking forward to presenting our findings to the company’s board of 20+ senior executives later this semester. As an aspiring marketer, this is my dream opportunity to gain real-world experience within the field of marketing, while also learning about new technological trends.

Civic projects and internship experiences are gradually becoming more important to us as our class starts approaching Capstones - our final projects that we need to complete before graduation. This semester, we have started thinking about ideas we would like to explore long term, and everyone is slowly embarking on their unique career paths. Regardless of our differences, however, we always come together to celebrate: the Elevation Feast, Friendsgiving, and group trips across the country have brought our class together during our time in Argentina.

Seeing the country’s breathtaking landscapes in Patagonia, Jujuy, and beyond, has left us with a rather complete “bucket list” and a full heart. I am excited to experience the last few weeks of the semester soaking in the Argentine sun before moving to London in January. More importantly, however, I am eager to see our community become tighter despite individual differences as we step into our last few semesters at Minerva.

Warm greetings from Buenos Aires,

Andi
